Jump Starts — Alexander and Sons Towing
Montgomery & Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Jump Starts

Dead battery, cold morning, packed parking lot. We have all three covered.

A jump start is the simplest call we run and the one people get wrong most often. Reversed clamps, a booster held on the wrong ground, a cheap pack pushed into a modern car's electrical system: all of it costs far more than the visit would have. We carry proper boost equipment and we know where the manufacturer put the jump points.

Done the correct way

Clamps on the designated positive terminal and a chassis ground, correct polarity, controlled current. Modern vehicles run dozens of control modules and they do not forgive a careless boost.

We also tell you why it died

A battery that goes flat overnight has a reason: age, a parasitic draw, or a charging system that quit. We check voltage before and after the start so you know whether you are driving to work or driving to a parts counter.

If it will not take a charge

We are already on scene with a flatbed. The vehicle goes to your shop, our shop, or wherever you want it.

FAQ

Common questions about jump starts

Can a jump start damage my car?
Done incorrectly, yes. Reversed polarity can take out control modules. That is the whole argument for calling someone who does this every day.
Do you sell and fit batteries?
Ask the dispatcher when you call. The owner is an ASE mechanic, so battery and charging work is well inside what we do.
My car is in an underground garage. Can you reach it?
Usually yes, with a boost pack rather than the truck. Mention the clearance when you call.
