Alexander and Sons Towing is owner-operated out of Montgomery, Alabama. The person who answers the phone is an ASE-certified mechanic with fifteen years in the trade, and he is also the person who arrives.
Most towing companies are dispatch businesses with trucks attached. This one went the other way round.
From the workshop to the road
The owner spent 2011 to 2017 running F.A. Automotive in Montgomery as owner and mechanic. That is where the ASE certification comes from and it is why the diagnosis you get at the roadside is worth something. Alexander and Sons Towing has been operating since December 2023, adding recovery, logistics and health and safety responsibility on top of the mechanical side.
Why that combination matters
When a tow operator with no mechanical background tells you the car needs to go to a shop, that is a guess dressed up as advice. When someone who has rebuilt engines tells you the alternator is finished and a jump start will not get you home, that is information. Sometimes it saves you the cost of the tow entirely.
Owner-operated, and it shows
There is no call centre and no lead broker in the middle. The number on the door is the number that rings, and the company operates under USDOT 4401702, which anyone can look up. That level of traceability is not universal in this trade and it is worth checking before you hand anyone your car keys.
How the work is done
Straps go through the wheels, never over the paintwork. Four corners, every time, plus safety chains. Vehicles get photographed before they move and after they land. None of that is remarkable, it is just the standard, and the reason to say it out loud is that it is not universally applied.
